odds and sods

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 19, 2008, 12:19 PM
Doing okay. Been worse, been better. Had yet another small hiatus from Xenodream, but I am getting back into it. I am trying to find scenes that are worthy of poster sized renders. And those can take up to a week on my machine, which is a 2ghz duo core with 2 gig ram. I can squeek out around to 12000 x 10000 pixels, which at 300 dpi gives me a decent sized poster.

There is a new community for Xenodreamers called xenodreaming ... [link] . I have joined and will be uploading here so that I can post there as well.

I was just thinking the other day that Xenodream is one of the few software progs I have bought that I still use on a consistent basis to play and have fun. And I bought it over two years ago. I don't think that I have any other bit of software than can match that record.

Well, thats all there is to say if I am not gonna complain about anything :-)

Later,

and new uploads coming soon.

Sorry to be so long getting back to you. To make my fractals I use a freeware program called Apophysis. You can get it at Apophysis.org. You can also check around [link] as there are tutorials and scripts etc that you can download.

Its true alright. A guy called Mandlebrot started this. Its used in atmospheric models for forecasts, and probably aspects of computer animation.

I once heard a math geek say that fractals were an artistic rendering of chaos theory. I don't know if that's true, but both are pretty durn cool!!!

Man o' man,but I'm addicted to these fractals :). This Apophysis program is the coolest fractal thing to come along since Fractint. Since my cmputer sits idle for periods at a time, I am generating thes fractals. They take from about an hour to over 8 hours at a crack to render. So, why not let the computer work while I am in dreamland catching upon sleep :), or when I am at work.

Thanks for adding me to your watch list.

I'll try and live up to myown expectations :)
